Why Choose a Clinical Psychologist for Assessment or Therapy?
Clinical Psychologists are extensively trained to assess and intervene on a wide range of emotional difficulties. Their training is lengthy and highly specialized, resulting in doctoral level qualification.
Only after attaining this qualification and a period of supervised practice can a Clinical Psychologist become ‘Licensed, Certified, or Registered’. This means they must adhere to a strict set of principles as laid down by the College of Psychologists of Ontario, to ensure they work ethically and safely as well as maintaining and developing their skills through ongoing continuing education and training.
You can consult the register on the College of Psychologists of Ontario website to ensure that any provider you engage is indeed licensed (www.cpo.on.ca)
